Tax Tip - Week 2 - Temporary Workplace Rules - Getting it right

This weeks tax tip is about correctly identifying if your workplace is a temporary workplace or a permanent one. You can save plenty of tax if you get this right, and as a Professional Contractor and Freelancer it may well affect your decision making over extending your contract or moving to a new one.

If your workplace is, and remains, a temporary workplace then you can claim the associated travel expenses. But it is important for your tax planning to know when a temporary workplace becomes a permanent one, and what you can do about it.

For full details of how to correctly identify the status of a workplace please see our article on temporary workplace rules.
