Pensions - Tracing missing funds

Many of us, when starting our careers ‘jumped’ from one Employer to another and the chances are that somewhere along the way we had pension contributions paid into company or private schemes that have long since been forgotten about.

If you have lost track of any possible pension schemes, the Government Pensions Office have a database of over 200,000 personal and occupational pension schemes that can be used for tracing purposes.  This service is free of charge.

Traces can be made by completing an on-line form their website, or manually by writing to them at :

The information that you will need to find for this service is:

Occupational schemes

If the Employer traded under a different name

Type of business the employer ran

Employers change of address if any

Personal schemes

The name of the personal pension scheme

The address where the scheme was run from

The name of insurance company involved with the scheme
